Suddenly and without warning the drivers for my HP all in on printer officejet 6500 E709n wireless were missing from my computer. When I went to print something the 6500 was no longer available in the print dialog box. Windows 7, wireless set up worked previously.
I had the HP software CD so I attempted to reinstall the software without success. It would get to a certain point and just stop. I noticed that the program was still on the computer so I went to the control panel and uninstalled it. Can no longer see it in the list of programs (although I do have software for another HP Officejet Pro L7500 that does show up.)
I downloaded the software from the HP site several times and after extracting the file, nothing would happen and I couldn't find that software.
Someone had a similar problem and an HP tech on the forum told that person to use a Microsoft Fix It tool to uninstall the HP software and it worked for him. The tool told me that there were no problems installing or uninstalling programs on my computer.
Strangely, when I just went to check the model number of my other printer the 6500 showed up in the devices and printers window, but it still won't print and the computer doesn't seem to know that the printer is there.
One last thing, a friend had told me to uninstall HP Update as it could interfere with the installation, so I did, but was not able to install.
Pretty frustrated here, but al least the weather is gorgeous today!!
