hi there
We have a strange problem with our vast base of LaserJet 1022 connected via USB to Windows 8.1 Pro PCs.
All our PCs work using RemoteDesktop on our TerminalServer 2012. So RDP is configured to import/redirect those locally connected 1022.
On our Win 8.1 PCs, we see that Windows installs a "HP Laserjet 1022 Class Driver". When we use that ALL print jobs will turn on the red LED on the 1022 and will not be printed UNTIL we press the green button on the printer. However. using THIS driver allows RDP to print on those printers. Also with the red light until green button.
However, when browsing through the printer drivers list in printer -> properties -> extended, I also see a "HP Laserjet 1022" driver. Using this one lets Win 8.1 print WITHOUT any problems, but RDP printing will generate an error on the TerminalServer (printing the test page immediately fails with an error, however, no clue what the problem is).
So, it seems as if I cannot get both: Correct printing and RDP printing.
I have already tried to run the USB printer connected to a printer server (TP-Link110U). The same behavior.
Please help me out here ... we still have lots of those little pritners connected to local PCs, people want them. Of course, we have also larger printing solutions which don't pose problems. So, people can print, but every now and then I get angry mails why they could not use their local 1022 any more.
Please note that we also have Win 7 Pro PCs which DO NOT HAVE this problem, only the Win 8.1 have.
Any ideas how to fix that? RDP printing is more important than local printing.
Thanks
Martin
