Duplex printing results in single-sided first page

Hi,

I'm using a HP Officejet 6700 Premium. When I duplex print a pdf file with odd number of pages, the first page is printed single-sided, and duplx printing will only start on page 2 onwards, such that the document ends up like this: page 1/blank, page2/page3, page4/page5. However, when I duplex print a pdf file with even number of pages, it works fine, where page 1 is duplexed with page 2 and page 3 duplexed with page 4, as it should be.

The printer works fine when I use  a Windows PC and the problem only occurs when I print with Mac OSX 10.9. I have seen other people experiencing the same problem as me but there seems to be no solution so far.

Does anyone know if this is an issue with the printer or the computer, and how I can get around this problem?
