I use the universal HP PCL6 driver, there are times when users want to print whether it's a PDF document, word, excel or POWERPOINT, the software crashes every time it presses "PRINT". I have to restart their workstation every time, before they can print, and it gets boring.
where can the problem come from?

Printer HP 6960 does not print black. It just happened after I replace the ink cartridge
I've got a DeskJet 2600 series printer and lost EWS password. I've already tried what was on this post https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Software-and-Drivers/HP-DeskJet-2600-EWS-password-reset/td-p/6740078 but it didn't work. The printer still ask's for the password that i can't remember. 😕
We have two Pagewide 377dw's that we purchased a year ago. Last week we had the first one start throwing a endless paper jam on left side with no resolution. With only a few days left on warranty, HP came out and determined that the unit needs to be replaced. Unit gets replaced and is now working fine.
Second unit a week later is now having the exact same jam issue on the left side as the first printer did. Just no warranty to get it resolved by HP.
I did have auto-updates on for both the units, so I am guessing that a firmware update might be causing an issue. Is there a way to downgrade the firmware to see if that has any affect on the issue?
I have the HP OfficeJet Pro 8630 and have almost the same situation as robgsmith. I too experienced the install problem of the install software seeing the printer, but not being able to communicate enough to finish the install. What has happened to me (for as long as I can remember) is that the printer appears and disappears from the network, off and on all day. If I happen to print when it has appeared, prints just fine. If it has disappeared, then print doesn't work. Every time the printer disappears, my PC displays an error message to the effect of ScanToPC App has stopped or something similar. Sometime later, the printer just starts working again. I don't get any message when it reconnects, so I really don't know the cycle time. I am running Windows Pro 10 build 1809 on an HP Envy laptop. I too have wondered whether HP has just not updated the drivers to work with Win Pro 10.
My Surface Pro will not print in color any more. It did up to a few weeks ago. I do not know where to fix this setting.
Also, it is not my printer, other computers connected to the printer can print in color.

A new problem in the past month....I can no longer print from my macbook pro to my HP office jet pro 8600. I can print from my desktop printer.
I see that the printer is installed,
When I go into preferences it says the printer is idleI'm not able got get the "reset printing" to come up in blue.
Should I uninstall the printer?
after downloading the driver, nothing happens. After extracting the file it just disappears from the screen.

Maybe it is really easy to resolve this, however I could not find any answer on HP support or this community page and struggle for weeks.
HP Deskjet 2630 was setup for wireless use and was working ok for a while (several months).
Then at one startup (power button push) all lights started flashing on the information panel (E sign 2 times, the E on the left side is smaller, the E on the right side is twice as big, no error number is displayed, all other info is on and blinking) and the printer is offline.
It is strange as the printer does not seem to startup correctly and stuck before even come up available for the PC (HP smart and/or printers & scanners). As this is the case I do not think the problem is with the driver/firmware as the printer does not reach that point.
Things I have tried so far:
1. hard reset - checked the cartridges, put them back, checked and verified there is no jam, removed paper, put back paper)
2. printer uninstall (from settings / Printers & scanners) and reinstall
3. printer uninstall (from settings / Printers & scanners) and reinstall with USB cable only
None of these worked, printer cannot be used.
Please advise.

The installation software doesn't see my printer, nor does the HP scan doctor or the HP support assistant. My printer is on my wireless network at address 192.168.0.199 and the blue light is solid. I have followed all of the instructions and have uninstalled and reinstalled the software as directed many times. I am at wits end HELP

I am unable to upgrade the firmware. Any help GREATLY appreciated as I presently cannot use the printer.
I downloaded the firmware as suggested in the post then run it (the printer is connected via ethernet) and I get the following

I was given an HP Photosmart 7520, but without the installation cartridges. I saw on the board that there are instructions on how to bypass these. Could you please send them to me? Thank you.
My granddaughter purchased an HP Envy 4512 printer (wireless) 18 months ago. She has been printing but has never installed the printer driver so I am unsure how that works. When she wants to scan a document she is not given the option to save as a jpeg or pdf but can save as a png etc. I told her to install the driver and she would have more options. She found the driver on the HP website but selected the option to install the basic driver instead of the driver that appeared when she selected her printer model.
After installing this basic driver she still has no printer icon on her desktop which she can open to show the print, scan and ink level. She lives in another city so I am trying to assist her over the phone until such tie as I can visit her and try to get her up and running. Since she just installed the "basic driver" is this the reason she can't open the printer window so she can scan, print etc. I told her to go back and install the driver that appeared in the download, that is the "full feature download and drivers" Did I give her the correct information?

No drivers for Envy 5010, anybody no the work round. Had a Deskjet 2632 but had printer offline all the time despite app saying ok. Couldn't print. even with wifi direct always had an error, clear the error it would print but then would print a status report from the printer

Hello, months of problems setting up scanning, sometimes would work sometimes not for no reason the next day, tons of calls HP, bought Smart Friend for help, tons of reinstalls etc. Cut to i think for reasons unknown the scan feature is working and in fact, i can print docs here at home via my I Phone too...Cool..
But then past 2 mos I'm at my wits end because I cannot print for the life of this new printer which HP made me buy due to way too many issues with the previous model...hmmm.mmmm....and no my current printer is not under warranty.
So, cut to the chase of 2 mos of constant reinstalls, reboots, change of boots and Nancy Sinatra Boots made for walking etc etc...you name it...HP Support Assistant, Dr. Scan, Manny Moe and Mike from Pep Boys....it all got done.
So, final piece of my story. I give up.......for last time trying to print via my normal network printer default which is labeled the same name as my HP5542. It doesn't come up with a printer error, it simply won't print.....more uninstall, reinstall, buy aluminum foil, place head, nose and face inside, suck up the fumes of aluminum, and play the song Planet Claire by 52's.....I'm just so sick of more updates, up doos, curly weaves........i can only print via hpeprint.com....and I just want to know from you good souls why that is? Why can't I print from my default ? I don't mind printing via this heprint but its unnecessary, i only print at home that's all....why default network such a silent no answer no print loser?
